Woot 2.0!
Woot 2.0!(community developer)
|
This is a slightly upgraded Woot! component. Keep track of the current woot, useful during Woot-Offs! Except during Woot-Offs, Woot.com offers one deal of an item per day, until it sells out. This widget allows you to view an alternate product image and to read the description, as well as a Woot-Off indicator icon. Also shows when an item is sold out, and percent remaining during woot-offs. Reloads every 30 seconds on normal woot days, and every 10 seconds on woot-off days. Enjoy.

First off, I love this widget. Really well done. I've been using it as a model for a Woot! project I'm doing for a different product. I started off with Yahoo! Pipes to easily tear out the data I didn't want and also get the benefit of JSON. The only Pipe I see that could be you is the Woot! Strainer. If this is yours, have you looked in to the sales rss feed instead of the regular feed? http://www.woot.com/salerss.aspx Sorry to bother if you're already well aware! Thanks again for such an awesome widget!

Yah did such a great job on this widget.. think you could come up with one for ThingFling with a mystery box alert? =) I like the Woot widget so much, id like to see something similar for ThingFling... And an alert if the widget is enabled and sees a listing for a Mystery Box or one of its variants

Sorry about that, all. I was reading Woot's RSS using a Chumby gateway, and the widget calls taxed the gateway, so they had to disable it. The component is now using Yahoo Pipes, so the load on Chumby's gateway isn't an issue any longer.

Why does this show up fine here, but is listed as "Under Construction" on my Chumby?

I was thinking about that too. Actually, the sold-out indicator and woot-off indicators are not available via the feed - instead, I have the widget look at the woot.com web page and look for certain page elements. I could do the same thing for the woot percent-left indicator, too. Probably won't happen during this woot-off, but I'll get to it this week! :)

Would be nice to see a version of this applet that allows for sellout woot http://sellout.woot.com/ This is one of my favorite practical desktool for the chumby... that and the package tracker.. Any way to have it refresh/update itself if you stay the widget (or on its own?)

Nice, just in time for the woot-off. I just stuck two of them in a channel by themselves to get it to refresh for now.

Right now, it refreshes each time it is loaded. I will build in a refresh though, so that you can just have it by itself in a channel (on woot off days!) - I'll update it sometime this weekend. :)

Nice, I really like the Woot-off alert. Care to explain how the product data is updated? Will the widget update automatically if it happens the only one in my rotation?
